Well a lot has been going on.
I was fired from my job on Friday. Funny thing is I started on april 11, 07 and fired on july 11, 08.
I was pretty shocked on friday but also knowing that I had wanted to leave just wanted it be my decision not their's. They did hire back the person who had the job before me. She started Monday backstory the boss man had called her on monday. they met wednesday and then poor Jen was fired on Friday.
I filed for unemployment on Monday. Been applying for jobs and took a career development class at women venture. One thing I learned is you don't necessarily have to have a career. I could just get a job that i like (hopefully) with people that I like to be around. sorta eye opening or at least I thought so.
Well I should go to bed but i wanted to put something down here first.
Well i have had a movie weekend. I saw Little M iss Sunshine
and the Departed. Both were good for different reasons. The first was very funny especially the relationships of the differenet people in the van and the whole pagent was hysterical. You must see this one.
The other movie I saw was the Departed. I guess i was a bit surprised that the audience was mostly people over 75 at least in appearance. But i guess i can't argue with people liking a mobster movie. Check it out.
I also have a few movies to watch from netflix. Lake House (which i heard wasn't too good) but i figure with a rental i can watch a few minutes and send back if it is horrible. I also have lucky selvin and
one I can't remember at the moment.
If you could watch any movie on the big screen right at this moment, what would it be?
gone with the wind
or something like highlander
this new header makes feel like baking.
maybe i'll make some cookies this weekend.
the air is gettign cooler out so it might be a good time to do it.
Maybe on sunday. there's a block party tomorrow.
we'll see
I have finished a few other books two of them i just couldn't get into them.
This one is about the world richest apartment building. Amazon suggested it to me and I generally give those a run through at the library. It just got to be a little too much about the rich and their rise in the 30's and etc.
reading this one now. light read. so far so good
This was a fast read but i enjoyed it. Really the lesson was to live each day at its fullest since you never know when that day will be your last. Which in itself is depressing.
I went to the Minnesota state fair with my sister, brother in law, my two nieces, my nephew, steve's dad and brother. it was fun. i had heard a lot about the fair before i moved out here and thought it would be interesting to see. I had worked at the virginia state fair and thought it would be something similar. But i was so wrong. first off the MN state fair is the size of CeBIT a major trade show in Germany that I went to 10 years ago. Probably a bit of an exaggeration since CeBIT is the size of 12 football fields. But its not a small state fair by anymeans. First off there are loads of buildings and exhibits most of which i didn't go into. But we did see baby animals being born.. one pig delivery was a bit much for me. they showed it on screens all over the place in the barn... i preferred petting the baby calves, lambs, and etc. Instead of seeing the slimy pig.
We had fresh sweet corn, really good cheese curds, corn dogs, deep fried twinkies, (i coudln't find the fried pickles) I didn't see the hotdish on a stick either but David had it and said it was alright.
I went on one ride with the girls and it was better than a super spinning ride for me. But they had a lot of fun.
I would want to go back again but I think just one day is perfect...
Let me know how the Pink Carnation book is - I've looked at it a couple of times. And let... read more
